Rondon top of our shortlist now. I genuinely said we should have signed him.when West Brom went down. Could we get him off the Toon now?

I was pleased we didn't sign Iheanacho and delighted we signed Chicharito, so I was right and wrong at the same time.

Re: Maxi Gomez
Once again a lot of people saying how the owners won’t spend the money required to bring in Gomez. How about wait and see what happens before churning out the usual bollocks?

Most of us were fairly content with the window last year BEFORE we went and bought Anderson for a record amount on top of the others. I’m sure Pellegrini won’t stand for anything other than more investment to progress further.

In addition to all this, I guarantee that most of us, including me, have barely even seen Gomez play! It was the same with William Carvalho. There was a meltdown on here when we didn’t sign Iheanacho and that looks a blessing. Chill out!

Re: Maxi Gomez
Vexed,

Unless we had sold Arnie in January we would never have had the money to buy Gomez after spending 100 million last summer.

Now Gomez may sign for someone else and score plenty of goals or he may be a flop. Too many experts on here who suddenly get infatuated by a player who they have no previous knowledge about or seen him play just because we are linked to them.

Re: Maxi Gomez
I expect someone else will buy him and he'll be banging them in for fun in the PL. We're going to end up paying over the odds for Rondon aren't we?

Re: Maxi Gomez
Won't come here, release clause is too much. Celta didn't get relegated so will cost a fortune, which our profiteering owners won't spend.

Re: Maxi Gomez
Classic West Ham.

Could have activated his clause in January but wanted to wait and try & save a few quid. Now we have no chance.

Re: Maxi Gomez
"Barcelona or Liverpool or any CL team will not hesitate to buy Gomez as a backup striker"

Erm, just maybe he wants to be a first choice striker himself and play rather than sit on the bench waiting for a first choice striker to get injured or used in games were the first choice players are rested?

Re: Maxi Gomez
Accoring to c&h we’re u likely to sign due to arsenal coming in for a bid

Arsenal 10/1 with the bookies we are now 15/8

Re: Maxi Gomez
This will be the on/off transfer saga we aways encounter- he will go to a bigger club than us.Celta Vigo look safe and they’ll ask a bigger fee, drag it out, we’ll hesitate and offer 1 million less than asking price and he’ll go elsewhere. Can’t see us forking out over 30 mil again on 1 player without at the very least some major exits. If Arnie left for 40 mil or so (doubtful now) we may stand a chance...

If we can get him for 35 quid, I'm IN.

Re: Maxi Gomez
f they are relegated and the £22m clause comes into effect Barcelona or Liverpool or any CL team will not hesitate to buy Gomez as a backup striker . Our best chance of landing him is if they stay up.
Claretandhugh keep on going on about trying to get him on the cheap but this won't work.
£35 plus is what we will need to spend if we are aiming for top 6.
Not if he and Arnie can work together tbh.

eusebiovic 12:57 Tue May 7
Re: Maxi Gomez
He has adapted well to La Liga but has been strangely below par when Celta's talisman Iago Aspas has been injured.

So basically we need to pair him up with an all action pocket rocket who pulls defenders out of position allowing our creative players to feed his big square head. Which has scored some very good goals to be fair.

@UruguayanHeroes
Maxi Gómez has reached 30 La Liga goals in less games than Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín, Samuel Eto'o and Sergio Agüero

Re: Maxi Gomez
Know little about the bloke other than I believe he’s done double figures for Vigo over the last two seasons.

On the face of it, seems like the sort of signing we should be going for, right side of 25 and seemingly good prospect.

Seems strange that we’d be able to get him if Barca and Liverpool are, as reported, interested.

"HEY! And where do YOU come from..?"

"It's good to meet somebody from... YOUR town.."

His arrival must be preceded by the sale of six or seven other 'squad members', apparently...

Probably why Pelle is already sniffing around in the bargain basement for City's geriatric cast offs

I still do not trust the Daves - and it will always be thus...

Will either come here and be an expensive flop or if he happens to be good will suffer a career threatening injury within 5 games.
